The difference we made – our impact in 2016

As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we trade for a social purpose. Every day, our dedicated clinicians help thousands of people in the community through many outstanding moments of care. Our figures show that we make over 35,000 healthcare contacts with adult patients each month, at least 1,500 healthcare contacts with children, and we currently treat around a third of Bristol’s over 65s. This care makes a real and lasting difference to people’s lives – it improves health and wellbeing, supports families, parents and carers, and alleviates social isolation and loneliness.

in late 2016 we published an Impact Report  to demonstrate exactly how we’ve made this difference to people’s lives. It highlights examples of work which we’ve undertaken over the last two years which have had a positive social benefit over and above the direct benefit of the healthcare we provide.

Some of the ‘big picture’ outcomes are also reflected in a five year Impact Infographic (also see above) which we published at the same time – this describes the difference we’ve made since we spun out of the NHS in 2011.

Last year we also worked with Babbasa, a local social enterprise which supports disadvantaged young people through work placements, to commission some local young people to create a film which explores the impact our work makes. Watch the impact video on our YouTube channel.

Of course we couldn’t have achieved this impact without the assistance and encouragement of our partners and stakeholders.  In the spirit of continuous improvement, we always welcome ideas for how we can further improve our social impact.
