Innovation is one of our eight organisational values here at Bristol Community Health. With this in mind we recently worked with Philips Healthcare to produce a new video on the concept of supported self-care and how it could help everyone to meet future healthcare challenges.
Supported self-care is a relatively new and innovative idea in healthcare, in which patients are supported to self-manage their condition more effectively, using a package of technology, education and clinical care. Over the last 12 months, we have piloted a supported self-care ‘champion project’, in partnership with Philips Healthcare, the West of England Academic Health Science Network and local GP practice the Lennard Surgery.
We will shortly be publishing the results of this work but in the meantime you can watch this video to find out more about supported self-care. The video is aimed at commissioners and other partners in the health sector, but it is also suitable for patients, carers and members of the public.
