The winners of the 2018 Patient Safety Awards were announced on 09 July at the Manchester Central Convention Centre. The ceremony was a culmination of an awards process which seeks to recognise and reward outstanding practice in patient safety by the NHS staff and organisations.
Entrants demonstrated exemplary improvement as well as cutting-edge innovations. The judges were very impressed with the high standards of entries, testifying to the clear achievement West of England Academic Health Science Network has made in being declared winners of the Deteriorating Patients & Rapid Response Systems Award.
“The judges felt that this project showed truly excellent work in effectively rolling out the initiative at scale and across a huge network. It incorporated a range of services and the results were very impressive.”
The category is sponsored by the International Society of Rapid Response Systems.
Garnering over 500 entries, this year saw fierce competition for these coveted awards, with only 180 making the shortlist. From those, 20 deserving winners were decided by our expert panel of judges (with an additional 13 projects also receiving high commendation in their respective categories).
