We show our support for Mencap's 'Getting it Right' charter

We have signed up to Mencap's 'Getting it Right' charter to show our commitment to improving healthcare and treatment for people with a learning disability.

Mencap launched the 'Getting it Right' campaign in 2010 and encouraged sign up from healthcare providers and other public sector bodies across the country. We are proud to have signed up to the campaign and committed to fulfilling all nine points of the charter. Alongside the charter, Mencap will work with us to develop practical guidance and highlight any adjustments we can make sure to ensure the best possible healthcare for people with a learning disability.

David Congdon, Mencap's Head of Campaigns and Policy, said: "Our charter sets out a standard of practice and will make health trusts accountable to people with a learning disability, their families and carers. We welcome Bristol Community Health's commitment to constantly strive to uphold these standards and help end the indifference experienced by too many people with a learning disability."
