At Bristol Community Health, we don't just provide high quality care for communities across Bristol. We also develop ways in which we can continue to support patients when they have left our service. One of the most exciting ways we have done this is by a launching a range of educational diabetes videos focusing on a variety of different topics to support diabetes management at home.
Created by Just90, and written by our Diabetes and Nurtrition Services, the videos are ninety seconds long and cover topics such as smoking, eating healthy and looking after your feet.
Kizzy Harris, Bristol Community Health Diabetes Lead, said, "We see around 3000 patients every year, and support them in managing their diabetes. We recognised the need to support some of these patients in understanding their condition better. These videos are a fantastic way to support this. They also enable patients to view key messages at a convenient time, which is especially important for those who are working or who are housebound. The flexibility our videos provide to patients is invaluable."
We are always working to support patients to manage their long term conditions so they are able to live a healthy lifestyle. The videos are a quick and easy way for patients to take away information to view in their own homes and in their own time. This ensures that when they are away from our service, the information they are viewing is still accurate.
We are planning to create more videos for more of our services, so patients with other long term conditions and those who also need short term support can benefit from advice through videos.
