As a community healthcare provider in Bristol, dementia is one of the key areas on our agenda. We are working in a variety of ways to support patients, carers and families who are affected by dementia.
A carer is someone who provides unpaid support to a relative, partner or friend, yet they may not identify themselves as a carer, but rather as a husband, wife, good friend etc. Caring can provide huge satisfaction in people's lives, but without the right support, carers may struggle with the responsibility. Evidence shows that caring can cause ill health, poverty and social isolation.
On Thursday 17 July we will be hosting a Carers' Coffee Morning at Barstaple Almshouse and Day Centre. This morning is intended to offer support and friendship for carers living in Bristol. It will be a relaxed atmosphere and tea, coffee and cake will be available free of charge.
The morning will run from 10.30am – 12pm at Barstaple Almshouse and Day Centre, Lower Knole Lane, Brentry, Bristol, BS10 6UD.
Places are limited, so please contact Sarah Whittle, Bristol Community Health Dementia Lead, on 0117 984 1599 to book a place, or simply to find out more information.
