Parkinson's Nurse Specialist

What is the service?

Our Parkinson's Nurse Specialist Service can provide information, advice, and support for people with Parkinson's Disease who are living in the community and also for their carers, families and healthcare professionals involved in their care.

What does this service do?

We can provide care and support in the following ways:

• a Specialist Nurse Assessment to look at the needs of each person with Parkinson's to monitor and review the effectiveness of Parkinson's medication
• access to Specialist Nurse Clinics in the community
• telephone and e-mail contact with our Specialist Nurse
• partnership working with other people involved in caring for a person with Parkinson's
• education of individuals, groups, and multidisciplinary Health and Social Care professionals to help promote a greater understanding and awareness of Parkinson's Disease

Who is this service for?

Our Parkinson's Nurse Specialist service is for people of all ages with a diagnosis of Parkinson's who are registered with a General Practitioner (GP) located in the South or Inner City and East areas of Bristol.

How can I access this service?

Access to this service is by referral only. You can ask your GP, Consultant, or any healthcare professional involved in your care, to refer you to our service.

Referrals can be made by any healthcare professional by completing and submitting the Parkinson's Nurse Specialist referral form, available to download from the 'Document Downloads' section on the left of this page. Please include a GP/Consultant referral letter with your completed form and send it by post or e-mail using the contact details below.

How to contact us

Patients who have been referred into our Parkinson’s Nurse specialist service and are receiving care from us can contact us between Monday and Friday, 9am - 5pm (excluding bank holidays).
