What is this service?

On 1 April 2016 we launched our new primary healthcare service across five south west prisons:

• HMP Bristol
• HMP Eastwood Park
• HMP Ashfield
• HMP Leyhill
• HMP Erlestoke

The service is run by a partnership called InspireBetterHealth. Partner organisations include Bristol Community Health (prime provider), Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, Hanham Health, GP Care, Time for Teeth, Homecare Opticians, Day Lewis Pharmacy and Sirona care & health CIC.

What does this service offer?

InspireBetterHealth provides integrated physical and mental healthcare, specialist substance misuse support, learning disability services as well as professional training and development.

Specialist onsite and inreach services include:

• Optometry
• Podiatry
• Audiology
• Pain management clinics
• Health promotion classes
• Sexual health and contraception clinics
• Medicine use reviews
• Ultrasound
• Complex care
• Eating disorders services

Substance Misuse

• Alcohol screening and assessment
• Female specific alcohol reduction
• Clinical substance misuse support
• Medicines management

Learning Difficulties

• Screening for learning difficulties

Pharmacy

• Professional pharmacy services
• Medication reviews
