What is this service?

The Bristol Community Health Urgent Care Centre is a nurse-led walk-in medical centre to support the local community with urgent minor injuries and illness.

The centre is based at South Bristol Community Hospital. The service is not appropriate for life-threatening injuries, but can help with minor injuries such as sprains, strains or scalds, as well as minor illnesses. What does this service offer?

Our Urgent Care Centre can provide assessment and treatment on the following:
• Uncomplicated limb injuries
• Minor head injuries
• Strains and sprains
• Bites and stings
• Minor scalds and burns
• Ear and throat infections
• Minor skin infections and rashes
• Minor eye conditions
• Coughs and colds
• Minor illnesses
• Emergency contraception

We are unable to help with:
• Acute chest pain
• Serious medical emergencies posing immediate threat to a person’s health or life.
• Serious head injury – loss of consciousness

Please call 111 if you have had diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours for advice. Do not come into the Urgent Care Centre.

Who is the service for?

Our centre will see both adults and children. Please see the list above of what we can and cannot treat.

How can I access this service?

No referral is necessary and no appointment is necessary. You can just arrive at our Urgent Care Centre during opening hours. The centre is open everyday from 8am - 8pm.
