Bristol Community Health Blog

As Clinical Lead for Dementia at Bristol Community Health, it's my job to ensure we have a workforce that is informed about dementia and we can embed a person-centred approach to service and care delivery for people with dementia, their carers and families.

It is that time of year again when normality resumes for lots of families around Bristol; the beginning of the new academic year. Whether going back to school or university, we know that there can be antics fuelled by excitement, and sometimes alcohol, during September which may end in medical attention.

Having recently been appointed as a Bristol Community Health Non-Executive Director I pledged at the Shareholders' meeting on July 4 to cycle round the Bristol Community Health patch. I wanted to meet staff and discover what they thought was awesome about working for Bristol Community Health, and what was needed to make working conditions and service delivery ever better. So I decided to try and visit as many services as I could on August 5.

In my role as Macmillan Complex Case Manager I work with our Macmillan Community Nurse to support patients following the end of their cancer treatment, a time when some feel most vulnerable.

Here is our first blog.
