South Bristol shoppers were given the opportunity to have their blood pressure tested when staff from our Urgent Care Centre used their day off work to host an information stand in Asda, Bedminster, to let people know what support they could get at the centre.
Two of our Urgent Care Centre's patient liaison staff along with a Health Care Assistant (HCA), hosted the stand from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday, January 30, whilst one of our Urgent Care Centre Nurses did the blood pressure checks. The team spoke to more than 200 shoppers.
Sarah Brierley, our Urgent Care Centre Lead, who organised the event, said: "As the Urgent Care Centre is fairly new, people don't always know where we are or what kind of care they can access at the centre, so we wanted to reach out to people living in South Bristol.
"We were really pleased with the response we received from the public on Wednesday, speaking to more than 200 people throughout the day."
Our Urgent Care Centre opened in March last year and provides all the services of a Walk-in Centre with the addition of being able to refer for on-site x-rays and other diagnostic tests. There is no need for patients to have an appointment for the centre, instead they can just drop in during its opening hours of 8am and 8pm every day.
Following the success of the first information stand, the team will be returning to Asda in Bedminster on Thursday, February 21, from 10am to 4pm when members of the public will again have the opportunity to have their blood pressure taken or speak to staff to find out more about the Urgent Care Centre.
