What is the service?

Occupational Therapists help people to overcome physical, psychological or social problems by concentrating not on what they are unable to do, but on what they may be able to achieve. The service is provided in the most relevant setting for the patient such as the place they live, or where they require most support.

Who is this service for?

The service is offered to people who may have needs in the following areas:

  • Assessment and advice on activities of daily living
  • Rehabilitation programmes e.g. post-stroke
  • Wheelchair assessments for non-powered wheelchairs
  • Posture and seating
  • Pressure care advice
  • Protection and care of joints
  • Hand assessment and treatment
  • Hoists
  • Advice to carers e.g. manual handling
  • Anxiety management (where the person has physical symptoms)
