Unique beauty spots and places with special sentimental value to south Bristol people are being sought by two artists making artwork for The Connect project which forms part of the public arts programme for the new South Bristol NHS Community Hospital, due to open in April. The artists, Simon Grennan and Christopher Sperandio, are keen to hear from anyone who can point out a personally favourite view in the south of the city, or who can recall a past view, now gone. The views will inspire a series of custom-designed drawings of south Bristol to be installed in the hospital as part of its final fit-out.
The Connect Project has been commissioned by Bristol Infracare LIFT who have been responsible for the design and construction of the hospital. As part of the public arts programme, The Connect Project will develop connections between the new hospital, its surroundings and the local population who will be using the hospital.
Mark Nebel, Chief Executive of Bristol Infracare LIFT said: "It is very exciting to be working with such great artists on this project and I am sure they will produce some interesting work with the help of local people. I think it's a fantastic idea to capture and record images of well loved places around south Bristol in this way and to display them inside this important new facility for the community."
The artists have set up a website to collect all the favourite views that they collect as the project develops. If you have a favourite view that you'd like to let the artists know about, you can add a comment on the website at: www.southbristolfavouriteviews.com call Simon on 01978 780 540.
