Volunteering

Welcome to Volunteering at Bristol Community Health.

Bristol Community Health is committed to working with volunteers to improve people’s experience of care, build stronger relationships with communities and reduce health inequalities. We work with partners in the voluntary sector to develop meaningful volunteering roles, and support volunteers to mae progress towards their goals.

You can access an application form and see the vacancies we currently have available in the column on the left.

 Current Opportunities

Personal Care Plan Buddies

Bristol Community Health is seeking to involve Volunteers as Personal Care Plan Buddies to support patients in the process of expressing and recording their hopes and goals. This will be a strongly patient-facing role, and will involve going out into the community and into patient’s homes, building empathic relationships with people and recording their thoughts.

Welcome Volunteers

The Urgent Care Centre is looking for a Welcoming Volunteer to greet patients who arrive at the Centre and help them to orientate themselves. The volunteer will play an active role at the heart of our work, showing patients between departments and keeping the reception area uncluttered and friendly.

If you are interested in applying for this role please download the Role Profile and Application form from the column on the left.

 Who can volunteer?

Volunteering is for everyone. Whether you are retired, in work or studying, you are welcome to apply for any of our roles. If you have practical experience of living with a health condition, it can also be a way of passing on that experience to other patients.

What are the benefits of volunteering?

Depending on the role you take on, volunteering could offer you the following benefits:

 Stay busy and active

Make a positive difference to the lives of others

Develop new skills or enhance existing ones

 Be a voice for change

 What’s stopping you?

Bristol Community Health provides full training and support for all of its roles. We pay travel expenses for volunteers – and other expenses when appropriate. We aim to be an equal opportunities organisation and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
